About Me

Shanelle D. Johnson

Licensed Marriage Family Therapist

I am a wife, mother, first generation graduate, United States Navy Veteran and a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist in San Diego, California. I joined the U.S. Navy at 18 years old and spent the next 10 and a half years traveling the world and defending the seas worldwide. After giving birth to my first child I realized that the Navy was no longer the career path for me and I developed an exit plan to attend college.

Currently, I am a Family Therapist with Mental Health America of San Diego County’s –Strengthening Futures program, as well as, the co-partner of Urban Restoration Counseling Center.  I am experienced working with individuals that suffer from chronic homelessness, severe mental illness, and substance use disorders in in-patient and outpatient settings. Additionally, I have worked as a program therapist with youth in a Level-14 group home. Lastly, I have four years’ experience working with individuals and couples in a private practice setting.

My goal as a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist is to provide a safe environment where individuals from all walks can have access to an affordable therapist that can hear the needs of the people with compassionate and empathetic ears. I aim to assist my clients in re-evaluating what’s important to them, help them recover from the bumps and bruises of life, renew and rekindle a passion for life, while restoring hope and bringing life into the relationships and communities in which they reside.
